Weds Feb 7 2018 saw Grenada 44 Independence day celebration. I had no plans to celebrate this year independence, as i really had so much to do for Grenada Newsroom Archive. But i met a guy at Grenada National Museum (GNM) named Oskar from Austria, who change my whole plan for independence. Oskar as i learnt during our conversation at GNM was in Grenada as part of his world tour. During our conversation he impressed me with his desire to learn about Grenada history and cultural, he impressed me so much i offered to take him around Grenada. We both agreed a date and bob was your uncle. On the Monday 5 Feb 2018 Oskar and i set of in a rental to enjoy Grenada. I took a welcome break from my work and dived into revisiting my home land, something which i had not done for some time. You see living in Grenada for me has been mostly about working towards the development of the island. There is so much work to do in the way of education, health care and opportunity. I am no politician but i do care a great deal about my people, who are a great lot of people. I have come to love them so much that i always find it difficult to draw myself away from them. They have taught me patience, farming and so much more, which has helped transformed me. I can never be a tourist in this region as i now understand their struggles and hopes. There does exist a disconnect between Caribbean descendants living aboard and those living in the Caribbean and it has been to our own harming.
Oskar had taken me out of my box and allowed me to reaffirm my faith and goals for Grenada, cause as we traveled around the island each day, we found people showing love, patience and at the same time hungry for change.
Grenada 44th independence is the run up to the next up and coming election which is set for the 13th March 2018. The day that the Grenada Revolution started.
